Is that what you had said?

The other day my old roommate and her fiancé and I were talking about how I have a tendency to not stay very single for very long. Then she said, "Ya, but I would be really better if I didn't have a boyfriend." Her fiancé and I looked at each other and then I said, "Wait.. What?!" and again she repeated, looking somewhat confused, "I would be better if I didn't have a boyfriend." We were both still really confused by what she meant and her fiancé was starting to look quite perplexed. She said, "You guys, I know I said it right. Why are you so confused? I would be so BITTER if I wasn't engaged right now." Oooooh, so that is what she meant.

My name is Maryn Smith (Muh-rin

Sm-ih-th). However, Maryn is not one of those names that can be shortened easily. Unless you take out all the vowels, which sounds a lot like 'Mern'. So my friends always called me Mern. Much later, I was talking to someone who was trying to find me on what was probably a very important list and she asked me what my name was and I said Maryn. And she looked at her list of highly influential and attractive people and eventually asked, "Smith?" I said yes and carried on to my very important business. As we walked off, my friend Caitlan said, "You totally should have said, 'No actually it's pronounced Smeet-er... the 'h' is silent.'"

And that is how I became

Mern Smeether.
